The Board of Directors of South Malaysia Industries Berhad (“the Company” or “SMI”) wishes to announce that the Company again received another letter dated 18 April 2023 from Honsin Apparel Sdn Bhd (“Honsin”) and HIQ Media (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“HIQ”) enclosing a Special Notice of Intention to remove the entire Board of Directors and replacing them with two (2) individuals, pursuant to Sections 206(3) and 322 of the Companies Act 2016.

The said letter sets out the intention of Honsin and HIQ to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting (“EGM”) to be held on Wednesday, 31 May 2023 for the purpose mentioned above.

However, since no Notice of Meeting has been circulated to shareholders and until such notice has been circulated, there will be no EGM to be convened.
